The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Ever

This is the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie. Ever. I have gone through a number of different chocolate chip cookie recipes, and found this one from Savory Sweet Life. This turned into my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. I am actually surprised that I didn’t post this recipe earlier. These cookies have nice crisp edge and a soft, chewy center. I could eat these cookies every day!

This recipe yields a lot of chocolate chip cookies, but that’s good because these are definitely cookies that will make you popular if you share them! One thing that makes this recipe stand out from others is the amount of brown sugar needed. It’s a lot.P1110547

Like most chocolate chip cookies, the first step is to cream the butter with the sugars.P1110549

I whipped the cookie dough until it got very fluffy and pale.P1110550

I added the eggs, one at a time, added the vanilla extract, and continued mixing everything for a couple more minutes.P1110551

The next addition was the sifted/whisked dry ingredients. I mixed only until the the dry ingredients were barely incorporated.P1110553

The final addition was the chocolate chips, because you can’t have chocolate chip cookies without them!P1110555

I scooped the dough out and added extra chocolate chips on top to make them a little more presentable. Bake until the edges get golden brown.P1110559

This recipe makes a lot of chocolate chip cookies. I opted to make my cookies smaller; the recipe says to drop 2 tablespoons of dough, but mine turned out to be about 3/4 tablespoons, instead. I adjusted my bake time to 9 minutes.

Cookie, anyone?

In the end, these cookies should end up with nice crispy edges with a chewy center, and taste a little a little caramely because of all of the brown sugar. The extra chocolate chips add a little more smoothness to the texture, too.

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe EVER!

1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened

½ cup sugar

1½ cup packed brown sugar

2 eggs, room temperature

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2¾ cups (12 oz) all-purpose flour (weigh the flour, if possible)

¾ tsp. smallish-medium coarse sea salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1½ tsp. baking powder

2¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 ½ 12 oz bags of chocolate chips)

Preheat oven to 360 degrees F.

Cream butter, sugar, and brown sugar until it is nice and fluffy (approx. 3 minutes on medium-high speed). Add both eggs and vanilla and beat for an additional 2 minutes. Add baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour until cookie batter is fully incorporated. Finally add chocolate chips until well distributed. The cookie batter should be somewhat thick.
Drop about 2 tablespoons of dough or use a medium cookie scoop and plop the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are nice and golden brown. Remove from heat and allow the cookies to stay on the cookie sheet for an additional 2 minutes. Pick up the parchment paper with the cookies still on top and transfer to a cool non-porous surface. Allow the cookies to cool on the paper for at least 3 minutes before serving.
