This week’s assignment for Tuesdays with Dorie is Chocolate-Covered Toffee Breakups. If you’re a fan of Almond Roca buttercrunch, you’ll love these Chocolate-Covered Toffee Breakups. There’s a nice buttery flavor in the crunchy toffee that complements the taste of the toasted almonds and chocolate.
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe is for Apple Pielettes. These are tiny pies that are baked in muffin tins that have a nice buttery crust and great flavor inside and out. This is a pretty basic recipe; the part that took a little time was chilling the dough in different stages of the pie-making process.
The Perfect Party Cake recipe is one that I had flagged in my copy of Baking from My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan; it was one of the first recipes in this book that I made a “must make” note for. I know a lot of October babies, and this cake sounded like the perfect dessert […]
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie assignment was Tiger Cakes, or petits gâteaux tigre. These are moist, upside-down mini cupcakes that have a nice chocolate and almond flavor, and aren’t too sweet at all! Dorie’s recipe makes 24 little cakes. To be perfectly honest, I hesitate whenever I see a cake as a Tuesdays with Dorie assignment because […]
I felt like making a cake so I leafed through one of Dorie Greenspan’s cookbooks. I didn’t have to look very hard because the cover of BAKING From My Home to Yours was staring at me. Well, it was actually the cover photo that was staring at me: a gorgeous layered cake that was just […]
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe is for the Apple Kuchen: A Tall Apple-Custard Tourte. The photo of this tourte in Baking Chez Moi looks amazing. In fact, it was a recipe I thought didn’t belong under the “Simple Cakes” category in BCM at first glance. There are a few components to this cake: 1) making a crust, […]
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe is the Jam Filled Sandwich Cookies recipe. The best way I can describe this cookie is jam sandwiched between two delicate shortbread cookies. This was recipe is straight-forward and does not require a lot of ingredients.
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie assignment is a Cherry Crumb Tart. Surprisingly, I think this is my favorite tart in Baking Chez Moi so far! I really didn’t expect this tart to be so good, but once I bit into my first slice, I could get the undertones of the orange zest in the streusel, a light […]
The Tuesdays with Dorie group selected Vanilla-Mango Panna Cotta for this week’s assignment. This worked out great because 1) mangos are on sale (and they’re really sweet), 2) this is a great dessert for this hot summer weather, and 3) what’s not to like about panna cotta?
This recipe for Midnight Crackles is one that I found in BAKING From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. This is a chocolate cookie with a kick (thanks to some unexpected spices)! This smells and tastes like it should be a cookie that should be baked for the holidays.
